Back Home Again in Indiana

Airplane Theater

We were super excited about the prospect of the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival because how Indiana does that sound??? But then we discovered Parke County is south of Terre Haute and decided it didn’t sound that Indiana after all.

So instead we hit up a nature trail which involved both a covered bridge (we win!) and a cornfield.

cornfield

And if that’s not Indiana, I don’t know what is.

I followed up the 4 mile walk by making an apple cake. No, that is not a typo. Despite my disdain for cake and fruit in my dessert, I made a dessert that encompassed both. It was delicious and I do not regret my decision. Who am I???

Sunday, however, was the day Jesse had been waiting for – Studio Movie Grill Day. It’s this new movie theater that lets you reserve your seats so you don’t have to go all MMA to get seats in the back, and it doubles as a restaurant. But instead of having tables, the seats have trays. So it’s essentially like an airplane IMAX. I’m still not sure how I feel about it.

On the one hand, the concept is brilliant. I mean, smoked ribs and wine at a movie theater? I’m in. On the other hand, the waiter was kind of terrible. He didn’t know what things were (that we were ordering straight off the menu), and he screwed our order up. To be fair, the place is essentially brand new, and there’s a “now hiring” sign out front so maybe the service will improve?

I think ultimately I would go back. This assessment is based mostly on the fact that the seats are (p)leather so in my mind, they actually get cleaned (please don’t tell me this isn’t true). Also, the food was actually pretty good and nothing was outrageously priced.

Also also, wine at a movie theater.

Hashtag priorities.
